Birth Doula Support

As your doula, my goal is for you to have a safe and satisfying birth, no matter what that looks like for you and your family.

I have attended 40+ births, ranging from planned and unplanned cesareans, home births, water births, unmedicated births, epidural births, and more. I believe that empowered births can happen anywhere, any way, because I have seen this to be true.

Birth support begins with birth preparation. Together, we will work to prepare your mind, body, and heart for birth so you can enter parenthood as your most empowered self.

Preparing the Mind:

My approach to preparing the mind for birth is rooted in a firm belief that understanding the evidence is vital for informed decision making. As a future clinician (you can read my bio about my journey to nursing and midwifery here), I am passionate about the science and the art of birth. I want you to understand this too. Some key topics we will cover are:

  • Evidence based care

  • Routine interventions in labor and birth

  • Understanding that interventions are tools and finding empowerment in when and how you use them

  • Comfort measures and pain management

  • Birth preferences, including induction and cesarean birth preferences

  • Lactation, feeding your baby, and postpartum

Preparing the Body:

It is no secret that we are not living intuitively in our modern day. Your body is designed to birth, but it may need a little help remembering how! I am finishing training with the Body Ready Method in March of 2026. With BRM, I am trained to provide:

  1. Functional Movement Assessment
Identifying areas of tightness, weakness, or imbalance in the pelvis, pelvic floor, core, and upper body.

  2. Goal-Setting Discussion
Exploring your vision for pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery

  3. Personalized Movement Plan
Creating a tailored strategy to bring more balance and efficiency to your body

  4. Daily Movement Optimization
Learning small but powerful shifts in how you move, rest, and lift to better support your changing body

This approach to birth preparation has a profound impact on the body, making pregnancy less painful, birth more smooth and efficient, preventing delays and stalls, and optimizing postpartum recovery. Click here to learn more about the Body Ready Method.

Preparing the Heart:

I believe that your intuition is an important and vital source of information. Throughout your pregnancy, I will encourage you to get in touch with this source in your decision making process.

Feeling safe in birth allows the process to unfold as it is meant to. Building trust and safety with me as your doula, your care team, your partner, and most importantly yourself, is part of the work we will do together.

These 3 pillars of support continue in the birth space.

During labor and birth, support from me looks like:

  • Cultivating a “labor flow.” This can mean providing affirmations or comforting words, setting up your space with dim lighting to promote your oxytocin flow, encouraging others to use soft voices, playing music as desired, providing counter pressure and suggestions for position changes as needed, and offering a variety of strategies for coping with the sensations of labor.

  • Advocating for your wishes as needed, to minimize your time in your “thinking brain” during birth.

  • Supporting your partner’s wellbeing and their ability to support you

  • Providing evidence-based information around different decisions that come up in labor and birth

  • Acting as a translator between you and staff to help you fully understand that is happening with your body and your baby

  • Helping you stay grounded and feeling safe

And more!

I provide specialized support for planned cesarean births that includes all of the above. I believe that cesarean birth is birth, and that you being empowered and informed in that choice is beautiful. I will help you find grounding in the pre-birthing room, join you in the operating room (if allowed), and support you in the golden hour during skin-to-skin, getting to know your baby, taking photos, and supporting you in latching your babe as needed.
