About Your Instructor

As a doula, lover of science, and nursing student, evidence-based care is at the core of everything I believe about birth. Evidence Based Birth® has always been a cornerstone of my doula practice, and I am thrilled to now be offering the complete Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class in-person to families in the North Bay Area.

Why I Became an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor

In my doula practice, I’ve noticed that there are very few in-person childbirth education options available for families in Sonoma County. Hospital-based classes often leave much to be desired and they tend to focus on what to expect from their facility or how to be a “good patient.” On the other hand, many independent classes are centered around one specific philosophy of birth, often promoting the idea that a natural birth is the ultimate goal.

My belief is that the true goal of birth should be to have a safe and satisfying experience. For some, that may mean planning for an epidural. For others, it might mean choosing a home birth. Some may decide that a cesarean—whether planned or decided during labor—is the best choice for them. Whatever your birth preferences are, you deserve to have informed choice, to understand how to pivot when circumstances change, and to ultimately feel confident that you made the best decisions for you and your baby.
